Rebranding presentation

On January 26, a presentation of the renovated oil products factory “Serpens” took place in Rustavi. The first stage of construction of the enterprise was completed in 2019, the factory was built in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, within the framework of the “Enterprise Georgia” program, an area of up to 10 hectares in the Rustavi industrial zone of the enterprise was transferred to the pledged ownership, and the company invested a total of about 30 million GEL. 

 

Since 2019, the factory has been producing high-quality bitumen, an essential raw material for road construction. As the representatives of “Serpens” stated, the main goal of the production is to return the historic function of the transport corridor for Georgia, which requires a special infrastructure, and high-quality bitumen determines the durability of the asphalt. After the rebranding, the enterprise increased the storage capacity to 20,000 tons, the railway track was also increased, and now instead of 8, the factory will be able to load and unload 32 tank wagons at the same time. Within 1-7 hours, to deliver the highest quality, five different types of bitumen around Georgia, taking into account the climatic conditions and specific needs of the region. 

 

Government representatives attended the presentation, including the Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development – Levan Davitashvili, who noted that “Serpens” is one of the most successful projects of the “Enterprise Georgia” program. According to the Vice Prime Minister, the existence of “Serpense” makes a special contribution not only to infrastructural development but also to the creation of jobs and the return of industrial importance to Rustavi. Today, the factory employs about 70 people, most of whom are Rustavi residents. In addition, the production returned to Georgia 10 professionals who will use the experience gained abroad to help their own country. 

 

Davit Songhulashvili, the chairman of the sectoral economy and economic policy committee of the Parliament of Georgia, noted that “Serpense” is one of the most prominent examples of effective cooperation between the private and public sectors, that such enterprises make Rustavi a centre of economic attraction, increase the city’s budget, help its development and It will return Rustavi to its original function and turn the city into one of the most important links of the country’s economy.

 

The mayor of Rustavi city – Nino Latsabidze, noted that the “Seprens” is a great example, showing that the economy can be developed without harming the city’s ecological situation and allowing Rustavi residents to breathe clean air. The factory meets the environmental and safety requirements of the European standard, in addition, the enterprise is equipped with the latest fire protection system. According to Nino Latsabidze, “Serpens” pays special attention to decent working conditions and safety in the territory of the factory. The mayor thanked the factory for its social responsibility and contribution to the non-industrial life of the city.

 

As the representative of “Serpens” Irakli Gogoladze mentioned, the factory is not going to stop only on bitumen and in the near future it will start processing fuel oil, base oils – diesel, tar and other petroleum products.
